The book had not a scratch, unlike the books shipped by Amazon, and is the second edition, not v.1 as the product title may suggest, so I was happy about the order. The book itself though leaves much to be desired. It goes straight into theory, so if you need practice with basic statistical concepts (the likelihood of winning a lottery ticket, for example), look elsewhere. Also, in-text examples often do not explicitly state the question, so if you want to practice while reading the text or even after you've read it, you're out of luck. It's competently written, so you'll learn something, but it needs an update. And way more rounding and calculation errors than I've ever seen in a math book.

I found this book to have useful examples and reasonable problems. It wasn't my favorite book, but then I saw some of the other books used for the class and I was stoked!
Very good text for probabilistic engineering design. Amazing examples. This text is very good for mechanical engineers as well as civils.
I think the in-text explanations can be improved, but it makes more sense to me when I work on the examples which are plenty in this textbook. I couldn't find the answer keys to the problems that are at the end of the chapter. So how can I check if I am right or wrong on those problems?
My Structural reliability course use this book as textbook. The author of this book is very famous in this field, and I think this book would be a very good choice to start your study on reliability.
